Fashion in the 1920s

Women Fashion

Women during the 1920s had two popular fashions and that was the cloche hat and the flapper dress. The cloche hat was often worn titled, allowing the hat to cover your forehead, but at the same time allowing you see when wearing it. The hat would mainly be worn with short cut hair, and by mid of the 1920s decade the hats would be worn with a flapper style.
Another popular fashion design during the 1920s was the flapper style. The dress during this decade embodied the lifestyle that the women had. The length of the dresses and the skirts were about calf length and the shortest was knee length. During this time period women were beginning to dress up more casual. By casual I mean they would wear pants more in public, since that was not a tradition for a women to be wearing as a casual wardrobe.

Women's fashion has definitely changed since the 1920s since women now have more freedom to chose the type of clothes that they want to wear, and it is no longer weird to see a girl wear pants to casually go out in public. Not only that but the lengths of the skirts as dresses have also changed, and women now have the free will to decide how short or high they want their skirt or dress to be.

Men Fashion

During the 1920s men were beginning to cuffed trousers, as well as Flannels. Flannels were becoming increasingly popular among the men as well. When casually dressing, both men and boys wore shorts that were the length up to the knee. A fashion trend that was not as popular as it used to be were suit lapels, this fashion design was brought in the beginning of the first world war, and it was popular for a short time, but not for long.

Men's fashion has completely changed sine the 1920s , because now men will wear a simple pair of jeans and a shirt and some sneakers and they would be ready to go out. Back then in the 1920s men would wear shorts that had the length up to the knees and for casual shoes the men also wore black patented leather shoes, which are still used now but for more formal occasions rather than casual occasions.

  1. Interesting to see how fashion has changed since the 1920's. Do you think that women were transforming the way they wore their clothes, their fashion-styles because of a way to protest against many of the machista attitudes that were in the country at the time?

  2. This is a great post because it talks about fashion for both men and women and I like how you explained the type of clothing that was wore by people back in the day
