Monica Lewinsky

In our very own San Francisco, Monica Lewinsky was born on July 23, 1973. She was raised in Beverly Hills and Brentwood, by her father Bernard Lewinsky, a doctor, and her mother Marcia Kaye Vilensky, an author. They divorced in 1988, however and Monica was left in a broken home. She was raised Jewish in Sinai Akiba academy, and the John Thomas Dye school. She graduated from Bel Air prep in 1991 and went to Santa Monica college, but stayed working in the theatre department of Beverly Hills high school. This is when she began to have an affair with her married drama teacher, Andy Bleiler. After she got a 2 year degree she went to Lewis and Clark college and got a degree in psychology in 1995. She then got an internship in the white house office of chief of staff Leon Panetta, which led to a job in the office of legislative affairs in the white house. Starting in the winter of 1995 Monica Lewinsky had a sexual relationship with president Bill Clinton for two years. They would encounter all over the white house including in the oval office. In 1997 she was transferred to the Pentagon. She had told a coworker about her affair, who then began to tape record Monica's conversations with the president. When questioned by lawyers Monica denied the affair, when the recorded tapes were handed over and there was evidence. Clinton denied the affair as well, but under oath. After the affair reached the public in January of 1998, Lewinsky had to hide for weeks supposedly "knitting." A dress of Monica's was discovered to be stained with Clintons semen, and Clinton finally admitted to the relationship. Later on a talk show, Lewinsky publicly apologized to the Clinton family, and in 1999 a biography entitled "Monica's Story," was written by Andrew Morton. She used her fame to start a handbag line, promote weight loss solutions, and host a television show. In 2005 she escaped to London and got her masters degree in social psychology.

  1. I think it is really important for people to know that Monica Lewinsky had a history of affairs with married men. Just one question though, Im not quite sure why she escaped to London, maybe you could go in detail. Am I right to assume that she escaped because of shame?

    1. Yes, it should be noted that Lewinsky did engage in several affairs, but it does not condone Clinton's actions. After all, he was the president, and should have had much better judgement.

During the time of the scandal, Lewinsky got a massive amount of media attention, and it's probably right to assume that she got treated pretty badly by the public. So she probably went to London to get out of the public spotlight for some time.
