Technological Advancements during WW2

No other war had such an effect on the technological advancements on the world as World War two did. Some of the advancements include radar, pressured cabins in airplanes, submarines, and of course the nuclear bomb.
The First time that radar systems were used during World War two was in the Battle of Britain. The Battle of Britain was a war fought in the skies, lasting a couple of months. The Germans, who targeted British military bases and ultimately the civilian population, could not defeat the royal air force. The royal air force was able to keep the germans out because of their radar system. They were able to tell when and were a German attack fleet was coming from and how many planes there were. The air force was then able to take out the germans before they could do much harm to the bases or civilian population. Radar also caused a large movement within the making of aircrafts, so that planes could fly above radar detection. The oxygen levels at the heights that the planes were starting to reach was much less than what a person needs to breath, because of this pressurized cabins were created. pressurized cabins allowed the people in the planes to breath as if they were still on the ground. Both of these systems are now found in commercial airplanes, and the control towers at airports. Control towers use radar to tell what planes are in the air, where they are heading, and help them stay out of each others way. Radar is also used in the cockpit of planes so that the pilots can see what is around them when flying in the clouds. Commercial planes use pressurized cabins so that people can have an easier time breathing, although it is not as if one is at sea level. The plane's oxygen levels are equivalent to being at 6 to 8 thousand feet above sea level.
Submarines were a big deal during world war 2. Submarines, as much physical damage as they could do, did a lot of psychological damage to people. The idea that an enemy threat could be right next to ones country with out anyone knowing frightened millions if not billions of people. The submarines between world war one and world war two changed quite a bit. In world war two he subs were much longer allowing them to hold more ammunition, more fire power, and stay underwater for longer periods of times. The German U-boats were much more advanced than the American subs. U-boats could travel at higher speeds, and stay under water longer than the US boats could.
The Atom bomb is arguably the greatest technological advancement of World War two. This bomb in itself changed the way the whole world viewed war. There was now a bomb that if used in a large scale could potentially ruin the planet. The A-bomb was created in the United States in July of 1945. During World War two the Americans were the only ones that held the knowledge of how to make the atom bomb. The blast radius in which one will  die from a bomb such as "little boy" is 5 miles. There are also much longer term effects from atom bombs. Because of their radiation after one has been dropped the surrounding area is not habitable. The atom bomb is a powerful enough weapon to threaten life as we know it, but also to keep a war from happening. This is what ended up happening in the cold war. Neither side wanted to start a nuclear war, which caused the two nations to look for other options eventually landing on peace.

  1. Make sure you correctly capitalize and look for silly mistakes. Also, I think one thing you should include is how these weapons actually created a different battlefield than the WWI and how that changed the death rates. I mean excluding Atomic Bomb of course.

  2. Be careful of spelling errors, but other than that I think that you were able to clearly explain the effects that technology had during WW2. I also agree with you in the fact that the atomic bomb definitely changed the views that many had on the war. In addition to that, due to the atomic bomb more and more other countries would begin to develop their own type of nuclear weapons so that they wouldn't fall behind in the effectiveness of their weapons. If there were a war now, many individuals as well as of our environment would be negatively impacted due to the radiation that the nuclear weapons release.
