Donald Trump, one of mankind's most mysterious creatures, has suddenly become the Republican Candidate for the running of the Election of 2016. Why has he, of all the Republicans, become the Republican forerunner? Trump has some seriously disturbing views on reforms, however, one thing is for sure, he is definitely successful. Trump has been appealing to a core Republican demographic which is mostly where his popularity is from. However Trump has many other tricks up his sleeve that proved to work.
First of all, Trump has answers for everything, and most of the time they are simply answers. Trump has simple answers for major issues like immigration, abortion, marriage rights and etc. Trumps answers might not be popular with many, but they are the type people want to hear. Instead of being confused by the complex outer layer that actually goes into solving an issue, Trump instead finds the easiest ways to make the biggest differences in peoples minds.
Next is that Trump appeals to conservatism values, which is apparent in many of his answers to solving major issues. Donald Trump believes in Pro-Life, and is against Illegal Immigration. Trump says alot of the things that most people are afraid to say. Many Conservatism agree with Trump and want to revert back from being too much of a liberal country. Trump to many can be compared to President Eisenhower on the issue of Illegal Immigration. Trump has referred to Eisenhower's Operation Wetback many times, and similarly to restricting the illegal immigration of Central American people, Trump's wall of Mexico will do the same. Trump blames many of the issues of our modern day economy on immigrants, something lots of Americans want to hear. Everyone likes blaming the immigrant for the higher competition of jobs and a more of a wage gap between the rich and poor.
Overall, Trump's success in the Republican Party is something extraordinary, instead of being a traditional Republican, Trump has achieved success by being unusual. Although many things Trump says are funny, it is time to take him seriously as he might be the President.

I agree with both your points, and it goes to show just how flawed American society is, that Trump can succeed in the presidential nominee election by appealing to racist, conservative, white supremacists who oppose immigration. Another reason for Trump's popularity, as this Washington Post article suggests, is that the opposition to Trump makes the contrast between him and the political establishment stronger, which is exactly what he wants.

Some of what you said is true, but this argument is a little more complicated than watering down Trump's supporters into one group. There are many people voting for Trump who don't fit into any of the categories you mentioned, so I think it goes farther than a few stances on political issues. For example, a lot of voters really believe in his tax plan, which Trump claims will lower income taxes across the board for the middle class.
DeleteAnother aspect you might consider is the idea that Trump does not give very clear answers, a great example of this is when he told the people that he knew the best people to put on his cabinet but would not give any names. Also, many of the ideas that Trump has for solving problems would not work, when the consequences and costs are taken into account. This shows that both he and the american people do not think of solutions that are possible, instead they focus on what sounds good.
